Nagbar is built to keep everything on your Mac. There is no Nagbar account and no Nagbar server holding your data. Nagbar is made by Abhishek and Sumit; the terms cover the rest.
What stays on your Mac
- Your reminders, settings and alert log (the log keeps 30 days).
- Calendar events and Apple Reminders, which Nagbar reads through macOS with your permission. To alert you on time, it keeps a copy of the upcoming ones (titles, times and meeting links) in its folder on your Mac. Their notes and places are read from macOS when needed and not copied. It changes an Apple Reminder only when you mark it done, rename it or move it, or ask Claude to through the connector you added.
- Your voice. Speech is turned into text on your Mac; the audio is never recorded, kept or sent anywhere.
- What you dictate. The text of each dictation is kept in History on your Mac, 30 days unless you change it (Settings › Dictation › History, where you can also keep none). Words said into a password field or a password manager are never kept.
- The language models that rewrite dictation and understand what you say run on your Mac: a model you download, or Apple Intelligence on the device.
- What Nagbar finds in your dictations (Hears what you promise, Pro): a file in its folder on this Mac only, never in a backup. Found items go after 7 days, and with the dictation they came from.
- Your Pro license key, which Nagbar keeps in a file in its own folder on your Mac, signed so it only works on this Mac.
What goes over the network
- License checks (Pro only): your license key and your Mac's name (as the activation's label, so you can tell your Macs apart) go to Polar, our merchant of record, when you activate and about once a week after that (once a day for a subscription).
- Prices: when the Nagbar Pro window (or Settings › Nagbar Pro) opens, Nagbar downloads nagbar.app/plans.json to show current prices; nothing about you is sent beyond the request itself.
- Update checks: about once a day, and when you choose Check for Updates, Nagbar asks nagbar.app for its list of versions (appcast.xml). The request says which version of Nagbar is asking and nothing about you; no system profile is sent. New versions download from GitHub (github.com/abhixhek/nagbar-releases), and Nagbar checks each one's signature before it installs.
- Model downloads from Hugging Face (huggingface.co), each once: the speech model dictation needs (about 450 MB), the optional speech booster, the voice Nagbar talks back with, and the optional language model (0.5 to 2.7 GB). Nothing about you is sent with them.
Features that send your words elsewhere, when you use them
- Do it for me (Pro) hands a reminder's details (title, notes, the email draft, a file's location) to the AI you choose: Claude (Anthropic), ChatGPT (OpenAI) or another app. They open ready for you to read; you decide whether to send. Their privacy policies apply.
- The Claude connector, if you add it, lets Claude read and change your Nagbar reminders when you ask it to, including calendar events' titles, notes, places and meeting links. What Claude reads goes to Anthropic under its privacy policy.
Payments
Purchases are handled by Polar (polar.sh), who process your payment details under their own privacy policy. We receive your email address and order details from Polar to support your purchase.
Analytics
None. The app has no analytics, ads or tracking. This website uses no cookies. It's hosted by Vercel, whose servers keep standard request logs (such as IP address, time and page) for a short while, and Nagbar's downloads come from GitHub.
